On June 29, 1941, the city of Iaşi in northeastern Romania was the scene of a pogrom that was jointly perpetrated by German and Romanian soldiers, as well as by local inhabitants. Nearly 15 ,000 Jews lost their lives in the massacre, as well as from the days-long odyssey of two trains in scorching heat.
