(Clement of the Bulgars; c. 840, presumably in Macedonia – Jul 27, 916), one of the seven saints of the Slavs whose feast day is Jul 27, was of Bulgarian descent. He was a student of the apostles to the Slavs, Cyril and Methodius. After the death of Methodius and the expulsion of Gorazd from the episcopal see of Moravia, Clement went with Nahum of Ochrid and Angelariosi to Bulgaria, where Czar Boris I received them. Initially, Clement taught in Kutmičevica and was installed as bishop of Velitza (Byzantine Velesso, now Veles) in 893 by Czar Symeon. He tr…
