Yankele is the title of a Yiddish song published in 1936 by the Cracow poet and composer Mordechai Gebirtig (1877–1942). In the form of a conventional lullaby, it reflects the situation of Polish Jews in the 1920s and 1930s, between tradition and moving into the modern era, troubled by economic hardship and increasing antisemitism. Gebirtig also wrote songs and poems in the Cracow Ghetto.
